AWARDS PRESENTED AT CLOSING CEREMONY
Оn September, 30th, 2006 in Bitola, Macedonia the 27. International Cinematographers Film Festival “Manaki Brothers” was closed with the awards ceremony. The members of the International Jury of the 27th International Cinematographers Film Festival “Manaki Brothers” (Fabio Cianchetti – Cinematographer, President; Martin Gschlacht –Cinematographer; Srdjan Karanovic – Director; Martin Blaney - Film Critic and Vladimir Blazevski – Director) have decided to grant the following awards: GOLDEN CAMERA 300 to “THE BEAT THAT MY HEART SKIPPED”, by the Cinematographer Stéphane Fontaine, for the perfect collaboration between director, cinematographer, and the whole creative team and for its overall approach to all elements of visual creativity. SILVER CAMERA 300 to “DREAMING OF SPACE”, by the Cinematographer Juri Klimenko, for wonderfully evoking the atmosphere of time and space with artfully crafted images that stay in the memory long after the film has finished. BRONZE CAMERA 300 to “TOUGH ENOUGH”, by the Cinematographer Kolja Brandt, for its modern, precise approach to a dynamic mise-en-scene which also makes use of digital possibilities in a creative way. Moreover, the film convinces through its hard-hitting authenticity. Two SPECIAL MENTIONS to “THE SECRET BOOK” (Macedonia) and “TOMORROW MORNING” (Serbia), to encourage the pursuit of greater diversity in filmmaking in South-Eastern Europe. SPECIAL AWARD by MOSFILM to the late Adrian Biddle for “V FOR VENDETTA and to salute his impressive career as a cinematographer. On the 27th “Manaki Brothers”, the AWARD FROM THE FESTIVAL AUDIENCE went to the Macedonian film THE SECRET BOOK. Bitola, 30.09.2006
